This year 'Team GB' will be joining delegations from more than 20 other countries for a wonderful week in The Netherlands – Saturday 9th- Saturday 16th August 2014.
It will be a team of 20 - 12 helpers and 8 disabled guests. Everyone does everything together; this is a week of fantastic activities challenging the limits of what disabled people can do. The theme of the camp this year is "Friendship in Freedom".
We will be staying at the Royal Netherlands Army Base near Harskamp in the Netherlands. It is going to be an incredible week with loads of activities and it is always such a special week: informal, personal, international and a completely different experience from Lourdes.
To be a ‘Team GB’ helper you need to have prior experience of working with disabled people, as you will be caring for the guests (HPs) 24/7 during the week – and someone with the same gender on an almost one-to-one basis. You will also need an up-to-date DBS (CRB) check and first aid certificate – as well as bucket loads of enthusiasm, stamina for the late nights, fancy dress and be happy to spend a fair proportion of the week wearing the now infamous Team GB PJs!! (These are provided).
The camp will be in the same price bracket as Lourdes - this will include everything for the week: travel, accommodation, food and all the activities. There will also be a bursary scheme available.
The Camp is something very special; we want to make this year even better and we want you to do it with us. If you enjoy a challenge, would like to see the Netherlands with some fantastic people, or just want to dance the night away in a tent listening to all manner of things, please get in touch with Louisa Grew with any questions, ihc@omv.org.uk
